At a Special Council Meeting held on Tuesday 8 October 2024, the newly-elected Leeton Shire Council was officially sworn in, and our Rotary Community Group Leader George Weston was elected Mayor.
This followed the confirmation of councillors by the NSW Electoral Commission last week which saw Sandra Nardi, George Weston, Krystal Maytom, Michael Kidd and Tracey Morris re-elected and Stephen Tynan, Boston Edwards, Nicholas Wright and Sarah Tiffen elected for the first time. The new Council will serve a four-year term.

At the meeting, the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor also took place with Cr George Weston elected as Mayor and Cr Michael Kidd re-elected as Deputy Mayor for a two-year term.

Mayor Cr George Weston said he looks forward to working closely with his fellow councillors and Council staff.
"We are entering an exciting term for Leeton Shire Council with the Roxy nearing completion, the redeveloped Chelmsford Town Square open to the public and Vance Estate progressing steadily.

"This is our opportunity to work together for a brighter future for our residents and a sustainable future for the Council," he said.
