The following is an open letter to District 9705 Rotarians and Rotaractors from Gary Davis,
the President of the Rotary Club of Woden Daybreak.

Hi Rotarians and Rotaractors

With the footy season starting in the next few weeks, the Rotary Club of Woden DAYBREAK would like to announce our NRL and AFL footy tipping competitions, that you, your friends and family may wish to participate in.

Firstly, there is an important difference to these tipping competitions compared to other competitions you may be involved in.

No one receives an individual monetary gain from being a good tipper.
In each of the competitions, the six top tipsters in that competition over the regular season (not including the finals) will each earn 10% of the funds raised through that competition for their nominated Rotary clubs.

The remaining 40% will go to the Rotary Club of Woden DAYBREAK for developing, running and administering the competition.

It costs $20 to join either the NRL or AFL tipping competitions and double that if you want to join both competitions.

As an added bonus, I will personally fund a small trophy for the tipster with the highest score in the NRL competition and the tipster with the highest score in the AFL competition and then present the trophies at a District Conference or other suitable event.

SO HOW DO YOU SIGN UP FOR THE COMPETITIONS?
Our exclusive competitions will be hosted on the ESPN footy tipping site.
Click the following links to start the registration process for the tipping competition of your choice.

After you click the relevant link, click the button that asks you to join the competition. At that point unless you are already playing in another ESPN footy tipping competition, it will say you are not logged in.

When that happens, a PLAY NOW button should appear. Click the button and you will be asked for information such as your email address and the tipping password that you want use.

Once you have completed that process, you should be set and be able to start tipping.

If you have any problems with that process, please  contact me at kylo@pcug.org,au

When going through the footy tipping competition registration process, you will see the bank details for the Rotary Club of Woden Daybreak account, where you will need to deposit your $20 per tipping competition. In making your deposit, please clearly reference your name and or tipping nickname in the payment details, so that we know that you have paid.

You don’t need to nominate the Rotary club that you would like to receive your potential portion of the winning funds at this stage. That can wait until you are hopefully announced as one of the top 6 tipsters at the end of the competition you enter.

Please also note, your payment of $20 per competition must be received by the end of Round 2 of the relevant tipping competition, or regrettably you will be removed from that competition. However, it would be best if you can make the payment as soon as you register for the tipping competition.
As our competitions will be hosted on the ESPN footy competition website, we will follow their footy tipping rules.

You can familiarise yourself with them at https://www.footytips.com.au/tipping/?ff=howtoplay

I suggest that you have a good look at the rules before the competitions commences, so that there can be no confusion about them during the season.
I also suggest that you don’t leave it to the last minute to input your tips each week, as any technical problems or a surge in demand to access the website close to kick off time might cause you problems.

I think that’s about it, but if you have any further questions please contact me on kylo@pcug.org.au

The NRL season starts on Thursday 10 March and the AFL season on Thursday 17 March.

I hope that you and your family and friends can join our footy tipping competitions this year.

Yours in Rotary

Gary Davis
