COVID Impact
Even with all the challenges thrown at us all by Covid-19, we're thrilled to let you know that we accomplished over 1,600 life changing Cleft surgeries in the last 12 months.
Operation Cleft
Operation Cleft Australia, together with its partner Deutsch Cleft Kinderhilfe, improves the lives of underprivileged children in Bangladesh by providing free cleft lip and palate surgery. Initiated by the Rotary Club of Box Hill Central in Victoria, the program has provided free surgery for more than 15,000 children since 2005.

It takes only $350 to transform the life of a child and their family and to provide benefits to their community. Left untreated, a child with a cleft issue faces a grim future which may include severe malnutrition, hearing and speech problems, exclusion from education, social isolation and mental health issues.

Highly qualified Bangladeshi surgeons undertake the work which also includes the hands-on training of other medical professionals in Bangladeshi hospitals and educating community health workers and families.

The program relies on the generous support of Rotary clubs in Australia and overseas, other community groups, businesses and individuals. More information can be found at
